MY SWEET LEE

When I was young, I prayed to our Father above
To give me someone that would be easy to Love.
God answered that prayer as you can see,
That kind wonderful man is my Sweet Lee.
It gives me a thrill when I hold his hand,
His is such a wonderful, kind and gentle man.
I smile when I see him walking towards me,
And he always smiles back so tenderly.
We have our differences, there is no doubt,
But nothing our Love hasn't helped us work out.
Many trials during our marriage we have had,
And a lot of our life has really been sad.
He use to treasure hunt in his spare time,
It would give him a thrill to dig up a penny, nickle or dime.
He loves to read and listen to Mozart,
He has strong hands and a big soft heart.
An auto mechanic is his life's trade,
But he wishes in school he had stayed.
God blessed us with three children, two girls and a boy,
Being a father has been his great job.
He was so proud a grandfather to be,
Five grandchildren to add to our family tree.
I'm so happy God gave him to me,
The LOVE OF MY LIFE my SWEET LEE.

And our family continues to grow as now we have 6 beautiful great grandchildren, one step great grandson and a step granddaughter, who both are loved just as much as the others.

"Robert"

Robert oh Robert our only boy,
So proud of him, our great job.
In all the sports he was the best,
And without studying, he passed all his tests.
He is an artist is so many ways,
But in his room, he chooses to stay.
Our sweet little boy where did you go,
I Love him so much, I want him to know.
It breaks my heart to see him wasting his life,
Never any children, never a wife.
He is no longer a child, he is now a man,
I wish I could hug him and hold his hand.
"God please heal his mind" is what I pray,
I know it will be done one of these days.

Robert got alcohol poisoning at the age of 15 which cause irreversible brain damage which caused schizophrenia and agoraphobia,(he refused to take medication) so he doesn't get out much at all.
Robert is now 47.

My Baby Girl " Dailene"

She was quite a surprise, but a joy to us all,
She grew up too fast, always having a ball.
With a mind of her own, had to learn for herself,
She seemed to put her feelings upon a top shelf.
With never a care or so it seemed,
Ran away from home at the age of fourteen.
She thought she had met the man of her life,
But all he gave her was misery and strife.
Out of that mistake something good came,
A sweet little girl, Amanda's her name.
A few years later she met another guy,
But short was that dream, as he had a roaming eye.
Again a mistake, but came a bundle of joy
This time our Michael, a precious little boy.
She says many lessons, she has now learned,
But to get other respect, it has to be earned.
A nurse she wants to be, so it's to school at last,
I know she'll be a good one, with no questions asked.

It took years before Dailene got a level head on her shoulders, but now one couldn't ask for a better daughter. Sometimes I think it might have been her sisters death that helped her grow up. She hasn't made it to nurses school yet, but she is in the medical field as a Medical Assistant and doing very well. She is on her fourth husband, but I am sure he is a keeper. She finally chose someone a lot like her Daddy and we love him as if he were our own son. We told her if this marriage didn't work, she could leave and we will keep him...(-: They have been married 5 years, the others never made it past the first year.

In Loving Memory of "Diane"

Our first born, our pride and joy,
Quiet as a child, pretending to be coy.
Eyes that sparkle, hair glistening in the sun,
The smile of an angle, always on the run.
God gave her to us, but for a short while,
Now she is with him to be his child.
We don't know why, Short was her life,
As she was a wonderful mother and loving wife.
Three lovely children, ages fifteen, twelve and nine.
With each passing day, she is on our mind.
A marvelous daughter, older sister of two,
We miss her cards, her call and visits too.
Our hears ache as we miss her so much,
Her beautiful smile and her soft gentle touch.

This is the first poem I wrote after Diane's death, she was killed on March 16th and her birthday would have been June 19th, so I wrote this poem and put it in the local newspaper as a memorial to her.

Trials

When I think of all the sadness
In my life that I have known,
I know all to often how
I have let that sadness be shown.
I know to much of the time
I over react,
And because of my fears
It's my loved ones I attack.
This make me realize how much we need
The love of each other,
And I should strive to be strong as I
Need to show strength as a wife and a mother.
But I also need loving acts,
Unexpected calls and sweet surprise,
To strengthen me for more trial
Which is bound to arise.

When our daughter was killed in a car wreck in 1996, I started writing poems, a type of therapy I suppose. Well actually I had written a few before then, but many I didn't think to keep and boy am I sorry about that now. Any way I decided to post them here to share.
